Principal Message

Hello Summer Hill Families! I am thrilled to serve the students and families of Summer Hill. I have spent my career promoting the importance of early childhood education and advocating for students with disabilities.

Born and raised in West Virginia, I have lived in the Hampton Roads area (Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach), North Carolina, Florida (twice), Maryland, Hawaii, and of course Richmond. I came to RPS in 2007 where I taught at J. L. Francis Elementary until 2018 when I left to serve as the RPS EHS/Head Start Coordinator of Student Support and Intervention to ensure students with developmental and speech delays gained access to early intervention and specialized services. Before transferring to RPS, I served as a private preschool director and teacher in Virginia Beach and taught Head Start in Kalihi, Hawaii. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Hawai'i, teaching licensure from Old Dominion University, a Master’s in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, and am currently working on a Doctor of Education from Capella University.

I am excited to watch our Tiny Tigers grow and develop into well-prepared Kindergarteners!
