Message from the Principal

This year is rolling along! I can't believe it is already October! We have several fun activities planned for families and students coming up over the next few months. Be sure to check your child's backpack daily for additional information.

Thursday, October 8, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Boushall Middle School, 3400 Hopkins Road, join us for the Facilities Modernization Meeting to express your vision for the future of Richmond Public Schools. See the flyers below.

We are in full swing of Hispanic Heritage Month. Friday, October 9 at 9:15 a.m., we invite you to join us for our Cultural Flag Parade, where we will celebrate the diversity of Summer Hill. Celebrate your heritage by wearing clothing that represents your culture or the colors of your flag.

Monday, October 12, RPS & Summer Hill are closed in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Thursday, October 15, from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. join us for Emotions Explorers Night hosted by our counselor, Ms. London. Check out the flyer below.

Thursday, October 22, from 5:00 - 7:00, we will have a fun-filled literacy learning event with ExCELL. Come join us for music, activities, and free food!

Friday, October 30 at 9:00 a.m., join us for our annual Fall Festival. Come dressed as your favorite book character and enjoy tons of fun activities, trunk-or-treating, a pumpkin patch, and much more!

Please scroll to the end of the newsletter for information about the mandatory drills we conduct every year.

Here are some reminders to keep things running smoothly this year:

  • Remember to follow the directions of our wonderful Crossing Guards, Ms. Cumberbatch & Ms. Green. We want to keep them safe while they keep you safe. Be sure to slow down, use your turn signal, and bring your patience. Following the directions of authorized crossing guards is state law. Not obeying crossing guards could result in 4 demerit points, a base fine from $30 to $81 plus court costs, etc.
  • Transportation requests have been submitted. If you have not received an update, you can inquire in the office.
  • Dismissal begins at 2:15 p.m. Remember to have your car tag visible to staff to make pickup go quickly.
  • Again, bring your patience, please
